Only One Sin

EXAMPLES OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF ONE SIN

Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:9-24) Eve was deceived by the serpent and Adam heeded her voice. They both sinned one time and that sin brought consequences to all mankind (all now die physically) and Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden.

Moses (Numbers 20:10-12) One time he and Aaron did not give honor to God when water came from the rock, and neither was allowed to enter the promised land.

Achan (Joshua 7:1-5, 10-11, 20-26) One sin of coveting what belonged to the Lord resulted in the loss of Israelite lives and the stoning of him and his family.

Annais and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11) One sin of misrepresenting what they had sold and given resulted in death for both.

Simon the sorcerer (Acts 8:14-24) Simon had one moment of weakness to obtain the power the Apostles possessed after he was converted and he was commanded to repent immediately.

One sin can be devastating to our lives and the lives of those around us. One time of committing fornication, stealing, speeding, lying, cheating on your taxes, getting drunk, taking drugs, one time of not controlling our temper or our tongue (e.g., the recent shooting by a wife of her husband). Any one sin can have a lasting impact on our lives on earth as well as our eternal destiny. Many times one sin also can lead to others (e.g., David and Bathsheba – adultery led to lying that led to murder). And some sins have consequences we will have to live with the rest of our lives.

EXAMPLES OF THE BLESSINGS OF ONE MAN’S RIGHTEOUSNESS

Noah (Genesis 3:17-19, 6:8-10, 22, 8:20-9:17) Through one man’s righteousness the curse of the ground given to Adam was removed and a covenant between God, man, and all animals was established.

Jesus (Romans 5:12-21, 6:10, 2 Corinthians 5:14-21) Through one man’s perfect righteousness, the curse of sin has been taken away for those who obey.

Jesus has solved the problem of sin for us. If we sin, that sin must be paid for (or atoned for). That payment comes from the blood of Jesus. If one is not a child of God, a Christian, you must submit to the will of God and believe in His Son, confess that Jesus is the Son of God, have godly sorrow called repentance for your sins, and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins (2 Corinthians 7:10Acts 8:35-39, 16:30-33). Once you rise up from being baptized, you will be a new creature, pure and white in God’s sight, with no more sin (Acts 22:16Revelation 7:14). If you are a Christian, when you sin you need to take quick action and repent so the Blood of Jesus can cleanse you of all your sins (1 John 1:5-10). Whether you are a Christian or not tonight: the time to take action with your sin is now. Because sin, if not paid (atoned) for, brings eternal death (James 1:15Romans 6:23). We need to learn from these examples. Each and every sin we commit needs to be taken seriously and needs atonement. Please think on these things. We hope to see you the next time on “Speaking The Truth In Love”.
